Grab Your Weapons (Supplies)

  •  a backpack. you have to carry a lot of books and binders every day! make sure that the backpack is big and has multiple pouches. Do not get one shoulder backpacks. they are too heavy to carry and will hurt your shoulder.
  •  pencils. lots and lots of pencils.  you will need a lot because you will do a lot of writing! bring no.2 pencils for tests, too.
  •  binders. Bring one for each period class. if you have two periods of something, then use one big binder, a recommendation of two inches.
  •  folders. teachers will get you many loose worksheets and papers. some of them will be important, and it is good to get folders to put them in.
  •  binder hole punchers. there are hole punchers you can find at Walmart or Staples that fit in your binder and are easy to use. papers your teachers give you may not be hole punched, and categorizing them will be important.
  •  colored pens are very important to grade papers and teachers will love it if you have supplies like these. outlining is easier with different colors, and jotting notes with headings is even more efficient with pens.
  •  book socks are vital. if teachers give you supply lists, one of the items is 100% likely to be a book sock. they cover your books so nothing is damaged on the hard covers.
  •  erasers. we all need erasers! you are going to make a lot of mistakes in middle school.mostly on paper. i hope. 😉
  •  a planner! teachers will say what homework you have, and most of it will not be worksheets. most are online assignments, and you can remember them by writing the assignments down. a built in calendar will be useful for marking important dates for school.

  •  notebooks. notebooks can be used for writing notes and essays. perfect lined paper, all organized into your own personal, FLEXIBLE binder! yup. those are notebooks.
  •  rulers. measuring is important! for projects in school, rulers make you be neat, AND ready for math.
  •  calculators.one word: MATH. it will be more complicated than elementary, so get scientific calculators.
  •  highlighters are good for remembering key points. teachers will like it if they see you highlighting passages that you are reading.
  •  pencil cases. the supply holder. you wont lose any supplies if you put ’em in here!
  •  extra locks. if you have built in locks on your lockers, great! If you don’t, use the locks. you never know when someone knows your locker’s combination and you need your extra lock. you can never be too prepared!
  •  a locker rug. the floor of your locker can be dirty and get onto your brand new binders. a rug will prevent that from happening.
  •  glue sticks, scissors, and scotch tape helps in project or if you are taking art.
  •  independent reading books are sometimes required in English. you don’t want to forget them! also something good to do in your free time that will please teachers is independent reading.
  •  last but not least, this is optional- get a stainless steal water bottle. hydrating is important in the scorching halls of middle school in the summer, or even the winter, too!
